What to do what to do...

So I've been taking my Metformin 2250 mg for close to a year now.  I am days away from second trimester.  Both my OB and my Endocrinologist want me to stop the Met by then.  Why am I scared to?  I lowered my dose to 1500mg at 12 weeks, and tonight plan on only taking one pill, 750 mg.  I know there are plenty of PCOS patients who take metformin throughout their pregnancy.  Why do so many doctors have different protocols?  I am partially scared that if I stop, I am going to gain even MORE weight quicker and I will be very nervous about the GD (Gestational Diabetes's) test.  I don't have insulin resistance, but am worried about it being pregnant with PCOS.

If any of you know why some people stay on Met throughout pregnancy, let me know.  Thanks :)

I can't offer any advice or help as I am ignorant to PCOS.
