Real SMART butter

I used to think I was being smart by using smart butter on my toast.  Boy was I wrong.  It is HIGHLY processed and full unnatural ingredients. Yes, it is convenient and easy to spread, but it is not smart!

I now make my own "Smart" Butter.  It has TWO ingredients, not 20.

Real Smart Butter
1 lb of butter softened
2 c. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Let the butter sit out and soften for an hour or two

I always use Extra Virgin... much better flavor!

Measure out the Olive oil and pour in food processor or blender
Add the butter

Blend! I store mine in a Tupperware container :)
It is so easy to make and SO much healthier.  I used to be so worried about fat, but we NEED fat, especially healthy fat, that is natural!  With my twin pregnancy I gained 37 lbs.  Since delivering my twins and changing how I eat, I have lost 45 lbs!  Eating natural unprocessed foods is the way to go!  Why should we change what God has provided?

Yeah, it is pretty freightening how many people don't eat real butter and settle for the fake precessed crap.

I personally love unsalted butter. It's all we have in the house. That way we can add salt to flavor as necessary.

I love these posts about food! Thanks for sharing the olive oil/butter recipt.

Yay! I have a friend who recently started doing this and she showed me her method. I had never heard of such a thing, but as soon as we use up the margarine we already have, we are making the switch. I guess everyone does it differently because she uses Canola Oil and she will only do 2 stick at a time and uses 1/3 c oil for every stick. I can't wait to try it!

This is such a great idea! We use real butter, but like you said it is impossible to spread. I am so going to do this!

I love your 'smart' butter!!! such a great idea. When I first started looking at labels on dairy (I was told to check labels bc I was suspected with a sorbic acid allergy, which is a preservative in dairy) ... yikes! I made lot's of ugly discoveries. One was this sad fact about margarine and spreds, followed by 'light' sour cream and then yoghurts. Shocking!
Thanks for sharing this healthy trick!

What a great idea! I just saw your comment and thought I'd stop by! Funny that you think my twins look alike because I think they look nothing alike! People ask me all the time if they are identical and I'm like "what!?" Too funny!

Hi there! Hoped over from Two on Two! Your twinks are just too adorable in their costumes in the last post. The hubs and I also try to eat as little processed food as possible too. We just feel better the healthier we eat! Love the blog!

It is frightening that people don't actually read the ingredients or care enough to not eat what might hurt them! Glad u are enjoying these posts and that you care about your health! I hope your pregnancy is going well!

That's great that the word is spreading about eating natural foods! Did you end up trying it? Canola oil also contains healthy fat and has a lighter flavor. Olive oil is amazing for you , however but has a stronger flavor... But I love it :)

Did you try it yet?? So good right?! :))

Thanks! Give it a try! The easiest butter you'll ever make! Takes me five minutes :)

Yes! We do not eat any "light" sour cream or yogurt! They add a bunch of unnatural unhealthy ingredients back in! I'm glad you are reading labels! :)

People used to always ask if my boys were identical as well and I NEVER thought they looked remotely alike. Haha! They still don't! However now that they are getting older I think it's much easier for strangers to see the difference! :)
